🤳 We are still on birdsite, but here’s a reminder that we are also on 🐘 mastodon.ie/@codinggrace
I had such a good time at Women in Data Science conference at UCD presenting PyLadies Dublin poster, and I gave a good mention of Coding Grace as well there. 😆

💖 And great to see TechFoundHer there as well, and speaking of… we are looking forward to TechFoundHer’s next event hosted by AWS. It’s booked out, but do put your name down so we get an idea of how many people would be interested in another event like this.

I’m on the Creative Spark’s FLAG (FabLab Advisory Group) and was delighted to be at their Enterprise FabLab official opening recently, and it was pretty cool to finally see their FabLab van IRL! 👏 🎉
For memberships, training, upcoming events, or even a tour of their amazing space, you can find more info on their website.
🚀 In Maker-related news… Dublin Maker is back and will be taking place on Sat Sep 2nd at the fabulous Richmond Barracks.

The Call for Makers is open right now and deadline for your Maker/Crafty applications is Aug 31st.
EuroPython was in Dublin last year, and it was amazing to see it here AND in person. They are in Prague this year, lots of activities on, and it’s also a great way to get involved as a volunteer.

I want to shout out about other activities that are happening at EuroPython which includes:-
PyLadies has a few events: Snake Workshop / Lunch / Social Event
Humble Data Workshop (⚠️ Application deadline: July 10)
Anyone from Ireland and Northern Ireland going to EuroPython? Share your pics and experiences with us via 🐦 or 🐘 site.
If you can’t make it, they also are streaming remotely.
📢 One more thing that’s related to PyLadies. I’m on the organising team for PyLadies global first ever… 🥁… PyLadiesCon! 🙌
It will be taking place online on the December weekend of 2nd and 3rd!
Came across some Women in Tech statistics from “Uncovering Trends and Unseen Data” by WomenTech Network
According to The World Bank, in “the European Union, women make up only 19.1% of the ICT (information and communication technology) sector”. They have a few more stats from industry, pay gaps, retention, culture, VC funding, effects of Covid restrictions, etc. More details »
📚 I’ve added the report like the one mentioned above to our reading list. Any summer-time reads and recommendations? Useful tech resources? Interesting videos or podcasts? Let us know. We are collating them here.
