🤳 We are still on birdsite, but here’s a reminder that we are also on 🐘 mastodon.ie/@codinggrace
What a summer, and I’m not talking about any washouts. Although I wasn’t in Prague helping out in-person with EuroPython in July, I was virtually there in spirit (and remotely). I certainly learnt a lot being on the EuroPython Society Board and the conference crew this year, and delighted to contribute to the refresh of EuroPython Society’s Code of Conduct, attended the Code of Conduct Enforcement Training and being part of the Financial Aid team!
If you are curious, here’s EuroPython 2023’s Code of Conduct Transparency Report.
🤩 So a huge thanks for the community spirit and experience. 🥰
💖 If you haven’t heard, I’m one of the organisers of the inaugural global online PyLadies conference called PyLadiesCon (their announcement)
There’s a call for proposals open at the moment (English, Español, Português, Français, and 中文) till Sept 10th. It’ll be great to have folks from Ireland and Northern Ireland speak at the conference. Apply here »
🏆 A bit closer to home, I’m delighted to be invited as one of the judges for Diversity in Tech Awards this year.
Dr Norah Patten will be keynoting at the event. It’s on Sep 27 at the RDS, and you can find more info at diversityintechawards.online.
I was delighted to hear Dr Norah Patten keynoting at the recent ShipItCon at the Mansion house, and I was somehow ended up manning a Maker table encouraging people to custom create ShipItCon’s new mascot, Squishy! I was also the judge for the best one (no pressure 😅). I was also promoting Dublin Maker and TOG Hackerspace.
Some amazing entries and congrats to the winner! I’m looking forward to being involved with the Maker table next year!
🎪 On to Maker-related news… Dublin Maker took place on Sat Sep 2nd at the fabulous Richmond Barracks. 👏 Congrats to the team and all the Makers who took part, and thank you to Dublin Maker for bringing the sunshine that day! You can check out their official photos via dublinmaker.ie/photo-2023.
The TechFoundHer community are buzzing with sharing resources from startup programmes, events, links to articles, and books. Books are so popular that folks have started a book club, and for their inaugural event they have invited the author or Building Moonshots, Tamara Carleton!
📚 On the topic of book clubs, any interesting reads and recommendations? Useful tech resources? Interesting videos or podcasts? Let us know. We are collating them here.
